

Brian Matzke is a co-owner of CFC and currently the Director of the West girls program based out of Newtown, CT. Brian has worked with various age groups over the past 20 years winning five Connecticut State Cup titles and the 2010 U.S. Club Soccer National Championship. Brian also spent five years in the Connecticut Olympic Development Program. Brian is currently coaching the West U13 girls that play in the CJSA Elite League, pre-ECNL and NPL regional leagues. He is also in his 5th year as Assistant Coach at Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.

The all-time winningest head coach in Fairfield women’s soccer history, Jim O’ Brien completed his tenth season at the reigns of the Stags. During his campaign, the Stags have won two MAAC Championship and have played in the Championship game four times. O’Brien has coached the league’s Defensive Player of the Year four times including three-straight from 2011-13. Fairfield has been a fixture in the classroom during O’Brien’s ten seasons, with his squad earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award seven times during those seasons. In total, 48 Stags have been named to the conference’s All-Academic team with one student-athlete being selected to the NSCAA Scholar-Athlete All-American team. The 2008 squad set a program record with 15 victories and was one of two O’Brien coached squads to finish in the top-75 in the nation in RPI rankings. Fairfield developed one of the best home stretches in program history during the 2013-15 seasons, recording a 20-game unbeaten streak on Lessing Field, which was one game shy of ranking in the top-25 in NCAA history. During his career O’Brien has won 210 games on the collegiate level, including starting the women’s soccer program at his alma mater, Southern Connecticut State University.

Coach Bri Casey
CFC Sound Coach Bri Casey was named as an Assistant Coach with the women’s soccer team at Southern Connecticut State University. She is a CFC alumni and holds her National D coaching license. While playing at Central Connecticut she helped her team win a Northeast Conference Tournament Championship and made an appearance in the NCAA tournament. She played her final season of eligibility at Southern Connecticut State University where the team earned a 3rd place finish in the conference and an NE-10 Conference tournament appearance. Bri currently coaches the Sound 2002 Girls Team.

Coach Ashley Kaufman
Ashley Kaufman is just completing her first season as a member of the Yale University Women's Soccer coaching staff.
Ashley joined the Yale staff after spending one season at Washington & Lee University where she helped the Generals to a 15-4-1 overall record and a No. 20 national ranking. W&L captured the program’s fourth ODAC title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Ashley came to W&L from St. Lawrence University, where she served as a graduate assistant for the women’s soccer team 2014-15. Over two seasons, Ashley helped the Saints to a 25-11-4 overall record and an 8-6-2 mark in the Liberty League. SLU also made an appearance in the NCAA tournament in 2015.
A 2014 inductee into the Utica College Athletic Hall of Fame, Ashley was a four-year letter-winner in soccer and ice hockey, and a one-year letter-winner in softball. She earned all-conference honors in soccer all four years, including three first-team laurels. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business management from Utica in 2009 and a master of education leadership from St. Lawrence in 2016.
Ashley also has experience serving as head coach for the GirlsCan Football Academy in New Haven, Conn., and with the Lake Placid soccer camp in Canton, N.Y. She also holds a NSCAA Level 2 goalkeeping diploma.
